Help the ambitious baker politely ask their roommate for help with a massive kitchen disaster. Select the most natural phrasing for each gap.
"Hey Sarah, I might have made a tiny mess while trying to bake that five-tier chocolate cake. ___________________________ helping me scrub the frosting off the ceiling? Also, _______________________________ a coffee before we start cleaning?"
Would you mind helping me scrub the frosting off the ceiling?
We use "Would you mind" followed by a gerund (verb + -ing) to make a polite request. "Could you possibly" would require the base verb ("help").
Also, can I get you a coffee before we start cleaning?
"Can I get you [something]?" is a natural, friendly way to offer something. "Do you want that I get" is grammatically incorrect, and "would you mind getting" would mean you are asking Sarah to get the coffee, which doesn't make sense as a peace offering!
